Sleek New Car by Ghia Displayed at Automobile Show (1955)
Turin, Italy 1955 : A feeling of speed is brought out in the long, sleek super-luxury car called "Gilda," displayed at the 37th automobile show in Turin. Complete except for engine, the car, created by Ghia, seemed to be the last word in streamlining those days. Some 450 exhibitions from 14 nations displayed their automotive products at the show.
Gold Plated 1931 Cadillac
Garden City, KS- Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smith sit in their 1931 "golden" Cadillac.
It's not painted on--the entire car is done in 23.75 caret gold foil. Smith has restored many cars and this time he wanted something different. Smith spent three years turning his car into a "golden oldie" and it is now valued at $500,000. The outside door handles are sterling silver, inside handles are 24 caret gold, and the gearshift knob is platinum set with 18 rare gems.

1959 Cadillac Series 60 Special Fleetwood
In the late 1950s Chrysler had the biggest, flashiest tail fins. So the word went out at GM to top Chrysler in 1959, no matter what. This 1959 Cadillac Fleetwood tail fin represents something of a high-water mark. The following year, fins would become more restrained, before disappearing altogether.

1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible
This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air top-of-the-line convertible was a high-class ride that featured Chevrolet's first V-8 engine. Although relatively small in displacement (265 cid), its 180 horsepower were more than enough to move the Bel Air with authority. The styling is classic. There's a suggestion of a jet-age aesthetic, but the car retains an organic friendliness, with it's visored headlights giving it an almost animal demeanor.

1933 Pierce-Arrow Silver Arrow
This spectacular Silver Arrow is the rarest of Pierce-Arrows, with only five of this limited-edition fastback produced. Priced at $10,000 during the depths of the depression it's small wonder. Still, the car was well received by both the public and the motoring press. Special attention was paid to aerodynamics; including the wide-angle V12, which allowed for a lower engine bay.

As a kind of compact SUV, a broad choice of engines are offered, including two gasoline and two diesel engine variants. Both diesels are equipped with a particulate filter. The TSI gas version features twin charging by both a supercharger and turbocharger. This, along with direct injection, gives this engine exceptionally high torque and excellent fuel economy.
