1929 Chevrolet Phaeton
Early advertisers exploited the commercial potential of the open road by paying farmers to allow signs to be painted on their barns. Parked in front is a 1929 Chevrolet Phaeton, featuring a "Stovebolt Six" engine, so named for its utilitarian slotted head bolts. This engine configuration gave Chevrolet an extra two cylinders over its four-cylinder Ford rival, and by 1927 Chevys were outselling Fords.

George Clooney in his sports car which was auctioned for charity
Hollywood heartthrob George Clooney sold off his sports car for charity in 2012. The megastar auctioned his Tesla Roadster electric car and donated proceeds to the Satellite Sentinel Project, the organization he co-founded by the actor/activist that uses satellite imagery to monitor the borders of Sudan and South Sudan in an effort to help report on possible military operations. The vehicle, which had just 1,700 miles on the clock, is one of the earliest of the two-seater sports car made, was auctioned off by Gooding & Company at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in Los Angeles on August 2012.Comedian Jay Leno is also selling off the second 2012 Fiat 500 made for US customers for military charity, the Fisher House.
